Al Ahly Issues Statement Regarding Royal Army Match Events
Monday 16-02-2026
Al Ahly club issued an official statement revealing the reason for rejecting the complaint from Morocco's Royal Army Club following the events of yesterday's match in the African Champions League.

In its statement, Al Ahly said: "Al Ahly Club, while preserving the right of all sister clubs to take necessary measures before the competent authorities, confirms that following the events of the first match between Al Ahly and the Royal Army, which took place at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium on November 28, 2025, in the Champions League, during which our players were harmed and threatened after sharp objects were thrown onto the field, as evidenced by television broadcasts and videos... Our club chose at that time not to file any complaint with CAF against the Royal Army Club and instead submitted some observations to the African Union that contribute to the success of African competitions, out of concern for good relations with our brothers, which we consider greater and more important than the result of a football match. Moreover, our club was keen to receive the Royal Army delegation in Cairo a few days ago in a manner befitting and reflecting the stature of the Egyptian state and the value of Al Ahly Club, and its pride in the distinguished relationship with Moroccan fans."

Al-Ahly added in its statement: "During yesterday's match between the two teams, some fans accompanying the Royal Army attempted to storm the stands of Al-Ahly fans nearby, and the match field. Security personnel intervened to ensure everyone's safety... Unfortunately, what the brotherly fans did in yesterday's match, and what they did in the first leg in Morocco, caused a negative reaction from some of our fans, who threw some water bottles onto the field track. This is something that Al-Ahly and its fans reject, regardless of the motives, to uphold the principle of sportsmanship and to maintain relations with our brothers."

He concluded: "Today, we have addressed CAF and presented the full picture to the 'Disciplinary Committee' with videos, especially since this is the first time some Al Ahly fans have engaged in such actions, which we categorically reject in form and substance. We affirm that, regardless of any actions or reactions, our relations with our brothers in Morocco will remain strong and solid."
