Spanish player Gerard Deulofeu, formerly of Watford, Barcelona, and Milan, revealed shocking details about the injury that effectively ended his football career. He explained that his knee problem was more serious than everyone had anticipated, as a rare infection caused the destruction of part of the cartilage in his joint.

Deulofeu explained that he suffered for a long time from severe pain and instability in his knee, before doctors discovered that an infection had significantly eroded the cartilage, making a return to the field almost impossible despite repeated medical and surgical attempts.

The Spanish player added that the injury had a significant psychological impact on him, especially since he was at a good stage in his career and hoped to return strongly to competition. However, he had to accept reality after realizing the extent of the damage to his knee.
