Statements by Moatamed Gamal after Zamalek's Qualification to the Confederation Cup Quarter-Finals
Zamalek coach Moatamed Gamal spoke about his team's victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and the White Knights' qualification for the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup.
Zamalek defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 today, Saturday, in the sixth and final round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, allowing the Whites to qualify as the leaders of their group.
In the press conference following the match, Moatamed Gamal said, "The game was extremely difficult, and I informed the players about this in advance, especially since Kaizer Chiefs watched us in the recent league match against Smouha."
He added, "We were keen to exert maximum effort and appear in the best possible form, and we faced a strong opponent who had more rest than Zamalek before today's match."
He continued: "Bezera played in the playmaker position during the last two matches in the absence of Abdullah Al-Saeed and delivered an outstanding performance. We also followed a rotation policy; Ahmed Sherif did not start against Smouha but participated today, and we fielded seven new players in the last league match."
Moatamed Gamal stated: "The happiest moment of my life was when the Zamalek fans cheered for me, as they have greatly favored me. When I feel sad, I listen to their cheers."
It was revealed that Ahmed Fattouh and Mahmoud Bentayek might return during the upcoming match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egypt Cup, with an emphasis on assessing the readiness of the duo before the game.
