Al Ahly Considers Bringing Back Hamdi Fathi to Replace Potential Departure of Dieng
Friday 13-02-2026
Al Ahly officials have included midfielder Hamdi Fathi, who is currently playing for Al-Wakrah in Qatar, among the options considered to strengthen the midfield for the next season. This is part of the plan to reinforce the team with players who have previous experience within the Red Castle.

According to the 247 platform, the idea of bringing back Hamdi Fathi emerged to compensate for the potential departure of Malian Aliou Dieng. This was based on a recommendation from Sayed Abdel Hafeez, a member of the club's board, who believes that the player possesses the necessary experience and cohesion to support the team.

The reports indicated that Al-Ahly's management intends to open negotiations with the player and his club in the upcoming period to explore the possibility of completing the deal in the summer transfer window, especially given the team's need for a defensive midfielder with strong defensive capabilities.

It is noted that Al Ahly had regained the services of Hamdi Fathi on loan to participate in the Club World Cup last June, before he returned to Al Wakrah after the tournament ended. His name was recently linked with a move to Pyramids during the winter transfer window, but the deal was not completed.
