Friday 13-02-2026
The Turkish Merih Demiral, defender of Saudi Al-Ahli Club, is close to resolving his final position regarding his return to participation before facing Shabab Al-Ahli of the UAE in the final round of the second group in the AFC Champions League for the elite.

The technical staff, led by the German Matthias Jaissle, is awaiting the result of the last medical test, scheduled for Sunday, to determine the player's readiness to participate in the anticipated match.

The Saudi sports newspaper reported that Demiral has completed most of his rehabilitation program and recently participated in parts of group training after successfully passing several medical examinations.

The newspaper indicated that current indicators strengthen the likelihood of his inclusion in Al-Ahli's squad against Shabab Al-Ahli of the UAE, should he pass the final test without complications.

Matthias Jaissle decided to exclude Demiral from facing Al-Shabab in the Saudi league, wishing to give him enough time to complete his recovery and avoid any new setbacks.

The Turkish defender had been away from Al-Ahli's ranks for two weeks due to a tear in the adductor muscle, before now approaching an official return.

Merih Demiral has played 24 matches this season for Saudi Al-Ahli in various competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
