Reports have indicated that goalkeeper Mohamed Awad continues to be absent from Zamalek's training sessions and matches after refusing to appear for an investigation by the club's legal affairs department, despite having filed an appeal against the penalty imposed on him.

The team's head coach, Moatamed Gamal, decided to impose a financial penalty on Awad for conducting individual training sessions recently, in protest of being benched behind goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.

Zamalek officials refused to let go of Awad during the last winter transfer window, especially given the registration ban crisis the team is facing, which further complicated the goalkeeper's situation within the club.

Zamalek is preparing to face Kaizer Chiefs tomorrow in the final round of the group stage in the CAF Confederation Cup, while awaiting a decision on Awad's status before the upcoming matches.
