Jesus Sets Condition for Al-Aqidi's Return to Al-Nassr's Goalkeeping
Friday 13-02-2026
The Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus of Al-Nassr informed his goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi of the condition for his return to the starting lineup this season, following his drop in the goalkeeper rankings and the recent reliance on the Brazilian Bento Matheus.

Al-Aqeedi was demoted to the second goalkeeper position after committing two mistakes during the matches against Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Hilal in the league. This prompted the club's management and the coaching staff to reconsider the idea of Pinto's transfer to Genoa during the last winter transfer window.

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" reported that Jesus held a special session with Al-Aqeedi, during which he confirmed that the goalkeeper is still part of his technical plans, noting that his participation will depend on the team's needs and the technical staff's vision for each match, without linking it to any specific tournament or confrontation.

Al-Aqeedi has not started since he was sent off in the Riyadh derby, which Al-Nassr lost to Al-Hilal 1-3. Jesus opted for the Brazilian goalkeeper to guard the team's goal in the subsequent matches.

The newspaper predicted that the upcoming summer will see Al-Aqidi leaving Al-Nassr in search of regular playing opportunities, given the strong competition for the goalkeeper position within the capital team.
