Exclusion of 3 Foreign Players from Al-Ahli's Squad Against Al-Shabab
The German Matthias Jaissle surprised Al-Ahli fans by excluding three foreign professionals from the team's squad traveling to Riyadh to face Al-Shabab in the 22nd round of the Saudi Roshn League.
The list of excluded players included the Turkish defender Merih Demiral, the Brazilian winger Matheus Gonçalves, and the Brazilian forward Ricardo Matias, according to "Al-Riyadiyah" newspaper.
Gonçalves and Matias were excluded by a technical decision from Jaissle, given the full quota of foreign players allowed in the match squad, according to the tournament regulations which permit the registration of only 8 foreign professionals.
As for Demiral, he still needs more time to recover from the muscle injury he sustained against Al-Khaleej in the seventeenth round, which prevented him from joining the match.
The Turkish defender missed the last four rounds in the Roshan League, in addition to the match against Al Wahda from the UAE in the Asian Elite Championship, due to the continuation of his treatment program.
The match will take place at the "SHG Arena" in Riyadh at 4:55 PM on Friday. Al-Ahli is in third place with 47 points from 14 wins, 5 draws, and one loss.
