Official Offer Looms to Distance Mourinho from Real Madrid
Tuesday 10-02-2026
The name of Portuguese coach José Mourinho has declined in the race to manage Real Madrid in the upcoming phase, despite being one of the names considered to succeed Arbeloa, due to an expected official move by the Portuguese Football Federation.

According to "ESPN," the Portuguese Football Federation plans to make an official offer to Mourinho after the next World Cup, coinciding with the expiration of the current coach Roberto Martinez's contract.

The source clarified that this potential offer might deter Mourinho from the idea of returning to Santiago Bernabéu, especially since the Portuguese coach has often expressed his desire to undertake this experience in the future.

The network added that Mourinho's potential departure from coaching Benfica, if he accepts the offer, would prompt the Portuguese club's management to look for a replacement, with the name Ruben Amorim being suggested. Amorim recently concluded his stint with Manchester United after being dismissed during the current season.
