Four Final Instructions from El-Nahas to Al-Zawraa Players Before Facing Al-Wasl
Tuesday 10-02-2026
The Egyptian Emad El-Nahas, coach of Al-Zawraa team, issued four final instructions to his players before their match against the UAE's Al-Wasl in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Round of 16, this Tuesday evening.

The anticipated match will be held at Al-Zawraa Stadium in the capital, Baghdad, at 7 PM tonight, and will be officiated by a Tajikistani refereeing team led by international referee Gulmurodi Sadullo.

In his last meeting with the players, the Egyptian issued four final instructions, which included important recommendations in the hope of achieving a positive result that could be the key to the team's qualification to the next round.

At the beginning of his talk with the Al-Nawras players, the Egyptian emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the momentum from the recent big victory over Zakho in the Iraqi Stars League, and continuing the successful journey against Al-Wasl.

El-Nahas urged his players to secure a win in today's match to ease the task in the return leg in Dubai, especially since Al-Wasl is considered one of the strong teams that deliver outstanding performances on their home ground and among their fans.

Among the matters for which he issued strict instructions was the caution against counter-attacks that could pose a threat to Jalal Hassan's goal, thus he asked the players to avoid reckless advances.

The coach will work on setting the appropriate plan to fortify the team's defense against the opponent's quick attacks, which could be a reason for Al-Nawras's delay, hence the midfield players will carry a significant burden to close spaces and avoid excessive advancement.

Naturally, El-Nahas will not park Al-Nawras's defense in front of the goal, but will try to make his team a threat to the opponent's goal from the first minutes, with the focus later on securing the result.

The Egyptian coach is well aware of the enthusiasm of Al-Zawraa fans, and that failing to score early could increase the pressure on the players and possibly lead to a loss of control, so El-Nahas will rely on Ibrahim Tomiwa and Fouqia to achieve his goal.

Above all, the coach asked his players to maintain discipline and order on the field, and to avoid recklessness or receiving unnecessary cards or in situations that do not warrant violent intervention.

The coach wishes to maintain all his players for the return leg, so he emphasized the need for caution in every step and move, especially as the team has reached the knockout stage, where there is no room for compensation as was the case in the group stage.
