Hilal Striker Threatens to Retire Due to Turkish Offer
Wednesday 04-02-2026
The Uruguayan Darwin Núñez sparked a sudden crisis within Al-Hilal Club after a dispute escalated between him and the management regarding his future during the current winter transfer window.

Darwin Núñez requested Al-Hilal management to agree to his transfer to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe, following the completion of the deal to sign French player Karim Benzema in recent days.

The newspaper "Okaz" reported that the Uruguayan striker expressed clear dissatisfaction with Benzema's signing, considering the deal a direct threat to his primary role with the team.

The report confirmed that Núñez escalated his stance and threatened to retire from football altogether if Al Hilal refused to allow him to transfer to Fenerbahçe.

These developments put Al Hilal's management in a difficult position, especially since the team is at the top of the Saudi league standings and is striving to maintain its technical stability.

It is noted that Darwin Núñez joined Al Hilal last summer from Liverpool, England, for 53 million euros.

Nunez signed a three-season contract with Al-Hilal, in a deal that was described at the time as one of the most notable signings in the Saudi league.
