The Police team succeeded in achieving an important victory over its host Al-Gharaf with a goal to nil, in the match that brought them together within the Iraqi Stars League competitions for the 17th round, continuing their positive results in the competition.

The encounter witnessed a remarkable crowd presence that added an enthusiastic atmosphere to the match, while both teams delivered an average performance during the first half, with exchanged attempts that did not reach a sufficient level of danger, ending the first half with a goalless draw.

With the start of the second half, the Police entered with greater determination to settle the result, allowing their Cameroonian striker Lionel Atiba to score the only goal of the match in the 48th minute, exploiting an organized attack that gave his team the early advantage.

Al-Gharaf tried to come back in the score through several attempts, but the defensive organization of the Police and the excellence of their goalkeeper prevented the balance from being adjusted, allowing the team to maintain their lead until the final whistle and collect three valuable points.

With this victory, the Police raised their tally to 35 points to temporarily top the standings, confirming their serious desire to compete for the title, while Al-Gharaf's tally froze at 23 points, dropping them to eleventh place, increasing the pressure on them in the upcoming rounds.
