FC Barcelona managed to sign Gerard Martin from the Cornella club just two and a half years ago for only 100,000 euros. Today, he has become one of the regular players in the first team's lineup, with a market value reaching 20 million euros, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport."

The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona succeeded in discovering a versatile and reliable young player at the defensive level, becoming a key element in the left-back position, after starting his career in the reserve team under the supervision of Rafa Márquez.

Thanks to his discipline, quick learning, and consistent performance, Martin started in the UEFA Champions League semi-final, providing two assists at the San Siro stadium. This confirmed that the Catalan club had made a successful deal by all standards, as their modest investment turned into significant value within the first team.

The report added that the player earned the nickname "Gerrard Maldini" in the locker room, in recognition of his outstanding performance and his ability to play as a full-back or left-back, emphasizing that his development from joining the reserve team to securing a spot in the first team was remarkable.
