Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, made decisive statements before attending the official lunch between the managements of Barcelona and Elche, expressing his great relief at the judicial decision that rejected Real Madrid's request to access the Catalan club's documents in the Negreira case, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo'.

Laporta said, 'I am pleased that the judge closed the door in Real Madrid's face; it was neither natural nor appropriate for a rival club to obtain Barcelona's documents.'

The president of the Catalan club confirmed that what is happening is an attempt to prolong the case, saying, 'Everyone knows they are trying to extend the case even though it will not lead to anything.'

In another context, Laporta expressed his happiness with the renewal of Fermín López's contract until 2031, saying, 'Fermín is a player with exceptional talent, and he feels the values and colors of Barcelona greatly. Coach Hans Flick always praises him, so extending his contract until 2031 is great news for the club.'

The Barcelona president also touched on the team's journey this season, explaining, 'Winning the Super Cup and qualifying among the top eight teams in the Champions League so far is evidence that the work is heading in the right direction.'

Regarding Barcelona's upcoming match against Elche, Laporta warned of the difficulty of the encounter, saying, 'We will face a team that is doing very well and is led by a coach with a strong staff, and it will be a tough match.'
