Flamengo club announced the return of its former star Lucas Paquetá to the team after spending seven years in European football. The 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder signed a contract extending until December 2030, bolstering the attacking midfield with his extensive experience.

Paquetá, who previously shone in the Flamengo jersey before moving to Milan, then Lyon, and West Ham, returns after being one of the standout players for the English team that won the UEFA Europa Conference League 2022-2023. He is also a regular member of the Brazilian national team, having won the Copa America in 2019 and participated in the 2022 World Cup.

Paquetá will wear the number 20 jersey and will be available to participate in all the competitions Flamengo is involved in this season, in a move that reflects the club's ambition to strengthen its ranks with a star who understands the value of the red and black jersey.

This season, Flamengo is competing for the Carioca Championship, the Brazilian Super Cup, the Recopa Sudamericana, the Brazilian League, the Copa Libertadores, and the Brazilian Cup.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal cost Flamengo's coffers 42 million euros.
