Friday 30-01-2026
Pep Lijnders, assistant coach of Manchester City, held a press conference to discuss the team's preparations for facing Tottenham on Sunday in the 24th round of the English Premier League, revealing many details related to the team.

Regarding Guardiola's absence from the press conference, Lijnders said: "The coach is as good as ever, full of ambition and passion, but it's a personal matter and he will arrive in Manchester today."

Regarding Doku's injury: "He experienced what he did in the previous injury, but it was on the outer side, whereas now the injury is in the middle. The previous injury took 18 days, and this one will be shorter. We need to be patient. Doku has a strong body, and we will wait and see."

Regarding preparations for facing Tottenham: "We are excited for this match. We must stay focused throughout the game, think about our playing style, and demonstrate our approach and mentality."

He warned against repeating the Liverpool scenario, saying: "When I was an assistant to Jürgen Klopp, with Liverpool we collected 92 points then 97 points, yet we didn't win the league against Manchester City. Therefore, we have to work hard to achieve it against Arsenal; we can't afford to lose more matches."

Regarding support for players and competition in the league: "The English Premier League is currently a crazy competition; all teams are fierce and of high quality, and any team is capable of pulling off surprises. We will also support Ruben Dias after his house was burgled, and he will return to training on Monday."
