The German club Bayern Munich officially announced the departure of star midfielder Leon Goretzka from the team at the end of the current season, following a mutual agreement between both parties not to renew his contract, which expires in the summer of 2026.

This decision closes a remarkable chapter in the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena, spanning eight years since he joined the team in 2018 from Schalke, during which he achieved numerous accomplishments and titles.

Christoph Freund, the sporting director of the Bavarian club, explained that Bayern Munich's management held open and constructive talks with the 30-year-old Goretzka, resulting in an agreement for the player to take on a new challenge in his professional career starting next summer.

Despite deciding to leave, Goretzka confirmed his full commitment to the club and its fans for the remainder of the current season, aiming to end his journey with Bayern Munich in an ideal manner and add a new title to his illustrious career before beginning a new phase outside Munich.
