The Brazilian star Rodrygo Goes apologized to Real Madrid fans, the club's management, and his teammates following his red card during the match against Benfica in the last round of the Champions League group stage.

Rodrigo posted a message on his official account on the X platform, expressing his regret for his actions during the match, saying: "I got carried away yesterday when I complained about time-wasting; this is not my usual behavior."

He added, "I have never been sent off while playing for Real Madrid, and I understand the consequences of that. I apologize to the fans, the club, my teammates, and the coach. We will remain united and continue to fight for this badge and the Champions League."

Rodrigo participated in the match as a substitute in the 55th minute, replacing Mastantonio, before receiving two yellow cards in the final minutes of the game.

Real Madrid lost 4-2 to Benfica, which forced the club to compete in the playoff to qualify for the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
