Cristian Chivu, the coach of Inter Milan, emphasized the importance of his team's 2-0 away victory against Borussia Dortmund, stating that the result gives the players a real confidence boost in the UEFA Champions League.

Chivu pointed out that the team finished the league stage in tenth place, outside of direct qualification for the round of 16, but they concluded the stage with a strong victory.

Chivu said: "We got what we deserved, so there's no point in looking at what we didn't do; rather, we should focus on what we did. It wasn't easy tonight in this stadium, with the energy that Borussia Dortmund's fans give their team. We played with maturity, and I feel we could have been more determined in the first half to attack, but we were somewhat superficial."

He continued: "This team works hard, and the improvement over the past two months has been significantly upward, and this result can give the team a real confidence boost."

He added: "At the moment, we are focusing on Sunday's match, as it is the most important one. We are forced to stay here tonight due to the long journey, and we will train here tomorrow as well. We must always think about the next match, as it is always the most important."

Chivu praised Dimarco's performance, saying: "We are very happy with his level this season, his mindset, his desire to work hard and be decisive. He always had the quality, and fortunately, now he has become mature and complete, and we are fully enjoying this version of Dimarco."

Regarding the playing style in the Champions League, he added: "Inter dominates and is offensive in the Italian league, but in the Champions League, we are more humble and ready to work on counterattacks."

He concluded his statements by saying: "The entire team has reached a level of maturity where hard work and humility become crucial, regardless of the opponent. We can win or lose, but we must never lose the team's mentality."
