Thursday 29-01-2026
Tottenham has regained its continental presence and successfully secured direct qualification to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, after finishing the league stage in fourth place, confirming its European image is different from its fluctuating results in the English Premier League.

Coach Thomas Frank's team delivered an impressive performance on the continental stage, crowned with goals from Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke, in a match where the 'Spurs' imposed their complete control against Eintracht Frankfurt, who played without pressure after their early exit from the qualification race.

Tottenham was the better side throughout the match, giving their German opponents only one real chance, which came from a Hugo Larsson shot that hit the crossbar near the end of the first half, the only moment when qualification seemed threatened.

The match witnessed an early goal by Xavi Simons in the second minute, but it was disallowed by the referee for offside on Pape Sarr at the start of the attack, a correct refereeing decision in a match characterized by calmness and almost free of controversy.

Although Tottenham failed to score in the first half, the results from other matches remained in their favor, keeping them within the top eight throughout the stage, even during periods of draws.

At the start of the second half, Kolo Muani broke the deadlock, benefiting from a header by defender Cristian Romero, who continued his outstanding performance, having contributed with goals or assists in his last five Champions League matches.

Solanke strengthened the score with a second goal after coming on as a substitute, capitalizing on a mistake by the Eintracht defense, going one-on-one with goalkeeper Kawa Santos and scoring calmly, confirming the London team's superiority.

With this victory, Tottenham was content to follow the results of the other matches, which ultimately granted them fourth place in the league stage and direct qualification to the Round of 16, setting a date with the knockout stages with greater confidence and ambition.
