The French player Valentin Atangana, midfielder for Al-Ahli, revealed his assessment of his experience in the Saudi League, confirming that his decision to move was driven by a sporting project and professional ambition, not for financial reasons as some might think.

Atangana, who is 20 years old, joined Al-Ahli Jeddah during the last summer transfer window from French club Reims, with a contract extending until June 2028. He participated in 18 matches and scored two goals.

The French midfielder expressed his complete satisfaction with his start at Al-Ahly, noting that he is experiencing one of the best periods of his football career, thanks to the positive atmosphere and the support he has received from the players and the coaching staff.

Atangana explained that playing with a team competing for championships is completely different from fighting for survival, considering that wearing the jersey of a team aiming for victory gives the player additional motivation and greater enjoyment on the field.

The Al-Ahli player affirmed that choosing the Saudi league did not negatively impact his career, as evidenced by his continued inclusion in the French Under-21 national team. He emphasized that the sports project was the decisive factor in his decision.

He pointed out that the level of the Saudi league is continuously improving, explaining that having 7 or 8 strong teams makes the competition intense. He expects it to reach a level close to the French Premier League within two years.

Atangana spoke about the role of his French-speaking teammates at Al Ahly, such as Kessie, Mendy, Milot, and Mahrez, emphasizing that they facilitated his integration, especially with the continuous advice from Riyad Mahrez.

Regarding his future, Atangana expressed his ambition to play in the English Premier League and participate in the UEFA Champions League, without ruling out the Bundesliga, emphasizing that his biggest dream remains representing the French national team.
