Asian Elite Forces Saudi Federation to Adjust League Schedule
Tuesday 27-01-2026
The participation of Saudi clubs in the AFC Champions League for the elite has led to new adjustments in the Roshn League schedule, as the league association decided to move the matches of the 29th round to April 6 and 7.

The decision was made to include the teams that qualified for the quarter-finals of the continental tournament, due to scheduling conflicts with the decisive knockout stages hosted in the city of Jeddah.

The Saudi sports newspaper reported that the association moved early because the quarter-final matches and beyond are scheduled to take place from April 16 to 25, which coincides with the original date for the twenty-ninth round.

During a coordination meeting held by the Competitions Committee of the Football Federation, the management of Al-Ittihad Club proposed to postpone the King's Cup semi-final matches to April 6 and 7 instead of March 18.

However, the competition committee rejected this proposal, justifying its decision by allocating April 6 and 7 for holding the 29th round matches for clubs participating in the Asian final stages.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation had previously approved holding the King’s Cup semi-final matches, which bring together Al-Ittihad with Al-Khulood and Al-Ahli with Al-Hilal, on March 18th next year.

The newspaper confirmed that all alternative dates were discussed, but the 29th of Ramadan is considered the only available option within the current season's schedule.

It is noted that the clubs Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad represent Saudi football in the Asian Champions League for the elite. Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli have secured their qualification to the round of 16, while Al-Ittihad is awaiting the resolution of its position.
