Barcelona Moves to Sign Dutch Talent
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that FC Barcelona continues its intensive movements in the young talent market, as it has entered into negotiations to sign the left-footed Dutch central defender Rood Neijstad, a player from FC Twente, as part of its plan to strengthen its ranks with promising talents.
The newspaper mentioned that after confirming the signing of striker Hamza Abdel Karim and full-back Patricio Pacifico, Barcelona is working on finalizing other deals, most notably winger Ajay Tavares and central defender Gwynseli Onstein, in addition to its ongoing negotiations with Neijstad.
According to the same source, Rood Neijstad is 18 years old and already plays with Twente's first team, with his contract ending in 2027. Barcelona sent a delegation in recent days to convince him not to renew his contract and to accept the offer to join the reserve team, with future prospects of promotion to the first team, aiming to reach an agreement among all parties to complete the deal in the current transfer window or in the upcoming June market.
The newspaper explained that Neijstad is an international with the Netherlands U18 team, characterized by a strong physical build, in addition to his good vision in play, and is having a remarkable season in his first appearance in the Dutch first division.
This move is part of the technical management's strategy at Barcelona, which aims to recruit players under 20 years old through low-cost deals or loans, in order to develop them within the academy and give them future opportunities with the first team.
