Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, expressed his disappointment over the departure of the young Spanish star, Drew, to Paris Saint-Germain during the current winter transfer window.

Laporta said in statements reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano: "Drew's departure surprised me..."

He concluded: "We had an agreement to extend his contract when he turned 18, then his agent informed us that he had changed his mind in the end. It was an unpleasant situation for us."

The two clubs reached a final agreement on the deal, with Drew set to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Parisian club, for a total value of 8 million euros.

Dru has a release clause in his contract worth 6 million euros, but the French club preferred to reach an agreement with Barcelona for a higher amount without triggering the release clause, in order to maintain a good relationship between the two clubs.
