The management of Al-Okhdood Club, in coordination with the technical staff led by Romanian Marius Șumudică, has decided to reassess the role of Brazilian midfielder Petros Matheus in preparation for the possibility of releasing him this winter.

Petros (36 years old) joined Al-Okhdood in August 2023 with a contract extending until June 2026, benefiting from his extensive experience in the Saudi league after representing Al-Nassr, Al-Fateh, and Neom, in addition to his professional career in Brazil.

The player participated in 37 matches in the Roshan League over a season and a half with Al-Akhdood, playing approximately 3,000 minutes. He focused solely on defensive roles and organizing play without scoring any goals, which led the management to reconsider his performance in light of the team's needs.

Petros is considered an experienced player that the coaching staff relies on in the midfield, but he has not provided the desired offensive contribution, which makes his future with the team uncertain in the coming period.

The management is considering the option of terminating the contract by mutual agreement or allowing the player to transfer to another club during the winter market, with the final decision expected to be announced in the coming days.

This move comes as part of a comprehensive review of the Al-Okhdood lineup to strengthen the team and improve its results in the Saudi Roshan League, following a season start that saw some fluctuations in performance.
