Galatasaray Places Marc Casado on Their Radar
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that the Turkish club Galatasaray is interested in midfielder Marc Casado, preparing to make a move in the upcoming summer transfer market. This interest comes as a result of the player's reduced role this season with Barcelona under the management of coach Hans Flick.
According to the newspaper, Casado is not expected to see any developments in his future during the current winter transfer window, but the end of the season may bring significant moves, given that he has lost the key position he held last season.
The newspaper indicated that the current market value of Casado, according to the "Transfermarkt" website, is 25 million euros, which is close to 30 million euros, the amount Barcelona had valued the player at before both parties agreed on his continuation this season. Casado's contract with the Catalan club extends until 2028, with a release clause valued at 100 million euros.
The same source indicated that Casado's reduced participation is partly due to Marc Bernal advancing ahead of him in the rotation order. The academy player has participated in only one of the last five matches, which was in the Copa del Rey against Racing Santander, while he remained on the bench in other games, most notably the recent match in Prague.
The newspaper added that the renewal of Frenkie de Jong's contract until 2029, along with Marc Bernal's continued contract extending to the same year, could reduce Casado's chances in the first team, with the possibility of being limited to a secondary role, despite the emergence of the young Tommy Markzy's name in training in the same position.
Although Atletico Madrid has recently been linked with the player, the newspaper confirmed that Barcelona is not currently considering letting go of Casado, except if a substantial financial offer is made. This scenario is not on the table at the moment, especially given the limited options available in midfield due to injuries.
The report confirmed that Casado, who played two international matches with the Spanish national team last season, no longer enjoys the same trust from Flick. This is reflected in the number of minutes he has played this season, which amounted to only 871 minutes.
