Al-Ahli Faces Crisis After Injury to Merih Demiral and His 3-Week Absence
Friday 23-01-2026
The Saudi Al-Ahli club received a new blow after its Turkish defender Merih Demiral suffered a severe injury during the match against Al-Khaleej last Tuesday, as part of the seventeenth round of the Saudi Professional League.

According to journalist Walid Saeed on the "X" platform, Demiral will be absent from the field for a period ranging from two to three weeks, which means he will miss participating with the team in several upcoming matches, most notably the match between Al-Ahli and Neom on Saturday in the eighteenth round.

Merih Demiral is considered one of the key pillars in Al-Ahli's defense this season, as he has delivered consistent performances and outstanding play that have contributed to enhancing the team's defensive stability, making his absence a burden on the coaching staff led by Matthias Jaissle.

Al-Ahli secured an important 4-1 victory over Al-Khaleej in a match during which Demiral was injured, allowing the team to maintain its lead in the Saudi league standings despite potential absences in the upcoming period.
