Flick: We Achieved an Important Victory, and Pedri's Injury is a Concern for the Team
Hans Flick, the coach of FC Barcelona, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the team players after their 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague in the match held at Eden Arena as part of the seventh round of the Champions League group stage. He also expressed concern over the injury of the Spanish star Pedri.
Flick said: "After conceding two goals from set pieces, we managed to come back, and that's good. It wasn't easy to play today, the weather was very cold, and Slavia played excellently. They are a physically strong team with quick transitions and dangerous balls. In the second half, we were better."
He continued: "I said before that it would be difficult. They had many weeks to prepare for the match, and they performed well. They are a dynamic team with great players, and it wasn't easy to defend against them, but I'm happy we turned the result around and played very well."
Regarding Pedri's injury, Flick said: "We don't know exactly his condition. He has hamstring issues and needs to undergo tests. These things happen. I don't know how many weeks he will be out, but it's not good news. However, Dani Olmo replaced him and scored, and Rashford played well too. I think Araujo and Bernal came in well. It's good that players deliver immediate performances when they enter."
He added about the team's position in the Champions League and the players' performance: "We didn't start the Champions League well, but we can still finish in the top eight, which will give us more rest. Next week won't be easy. Pedri won't be available, nor will Frenkie, but Lamine will be there."
He continued: "It was a great moment for Araujo and the locker room to win the individual duel in that run. He was good and helped us, so I congratulated him. I'm happy he's back, and this makes me happy for him."
He also praised Frenkie de Jong's performance, saying: "He played brilliantly, was excellent, at an amazing level. He's a leader and was also good in defense."
