Inter Begins Initial Steps to Sign Emiliano Martinez
Wednesday 21-01-2026
Sky Sports reported that the city of Milan witnessed, yesterday, the presence of the agent and the goalkeeper of the Argentine national team, Emiliano Martinez, along with his brother, where an initial meeting was held with the officials of Inter Milan. This reflects an exploratory move by the Italian club regarding the future of the goalkeeper position.

Martinez, 33, is considered one of the world's top goalkeepers in recent years, following his impressive performances with Aston Villa since joining from Arsenal in 2020. He has established himself as a key goalkeeper and leader on the field, thanks to his consistent performance, mental strength, and leadership qualities.

On the international level, the Argentine goalkeeper has a golden record with his national team, having won the Copa America 2021, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the Copa America 2024. He also received the Golden Glove award at the 2022 World Cup and is known for his decisive role in penalty shootouts and major matches.

“Dibu” is characterized by a height of 195 cm, quick reflexes on the goal line, and a high ability to handle pressure, making him a ready option to compete at the highest levels, although playing with feet is not among his strongest points compared to some contemporary goalkeepers.

According to the same source, the meeting that took place in Milan is still in the exploratory stage, with no official negotiations yet. However, it is part of Inter's plans to study several names in anticipation of the upcoming period, in search of a goalkeeper with the right experience and personality to be a future option to succeed Yann Sommer.
