Division Within Al Hilal Delays Finalization of Right-Back Deal
Al Hilal Saudi Club is looking to strengthen the right-back position during the current winter transfer window in an effort to fill the gap left by the recent departure on the team's right flank.
The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah revealed that Al-Hilal's management has entered into negotiations with Saud Abdulhamid, a former player of the team who is currently playing professionally for French club Lens, to persuade him to return during the current January transfer window.
The newspaper pointed out that Saud Abdulhamid has not yet made an official decision, but the indications lean towards rejecting the offer due to his desire to continue his European journey and have a key role with Lens.
In a related context, the newspaper clarified that Al-Taawoun club management rejected Al-Hilal's offer to sign Mohammed Mehrazi, insisting on keeping the player with the team during the current period.
The report added that Radi Al-Otaibi, the right-back of Al-Ettifaq Club, is among the options being considered by Al-Hilal. However, Al-Ettifaq's management insists on receiving 25 million riyals in cash to approve the sale.
The newspaper indicated that Rady Al-Otaibi's transfer has not seen any progress so far, due to differing opinions within Al-Hilal's management—some supporting the completion of the deal and others opposing it due to doubts about the player's performance impact.
Al Hilal hopes to quickly finalize the right-back position, especially after loaning the Portuguese João Cancelo to Barcelona until the end of the current season.
