The Spanish newspaper "Sport" confirmed that Barcelona player Ferran Torres continued his brilliance in the Copa del Rey after scoring the decisive goal against Racing Santander in the round of 16, affirming his great importance to the team in knockout tournaments.

The newspaper mentioned that Torres was a key figure in Barcelona's title win last season, as he topped the tournament's scoring chart with six goals, including an opening goal against Betis, a hat-trick against Valencia, the winning goal in the semi-final against Atletico Madrid, and the final goal in the final that pushed the match into extra time.

Sport pointed out that Torres's relationship with the Copa del Rey dates back to his early days with Valencia, where he made his first appearance with the first team at the age of 17, scored his first goal in the tournament in the 2018/2019 season against Sporting Gijón, and participated in six matches that helped Valencia win the title.

After returning to Barcelona following a stint at Manchester City, Torres regained his passion for the Copa del Rey and became an effective substitute for the main striker Robert Lewandowski, with the wings occupied by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. He explained his role as a number 9 striker under coach Hans Flick and achieved remarkable stats.

Torres is Barcelona's top scorer this season with 15 goals in all competitions, distributed as one goal in the Copa del Rey, one goal in the Spanish Super Cup, 11 goals in La Liga, and two goals in the Champions League, ahead of Raphinha with 11 goals, and Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal with 10 goals each.

The report clarified that Torres represents Barcelona's offensive future, and the club is seeking to renew his contract, which ends in 2027, to keep one of the most prominent talents who has proven his ability to develop and lead in the role of a main striker, especially given his continuous brilliance and the confidence of the coach and fans in him.
