Karim Benzema, captain of Al-Ittihad club, played against Damac despite suffering from a health issue in the fifteenth round of the Saudi League, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Saudi newspaper "Al-Yaum" revealed that the French star experienced a fever before the Al-Ittihad team headed to Abha, in preparation for their match against Damac in the Roshn League.
The newspaper explained that the medical team advised Benzema not to participate in order to protect his safety, but the player insisted on playing to support his teammates and help the team.
Benzema started the match but left the field at the 46th minute, with striker Saleh Al-Shehri coming on as his substitute during the second half.
Al-Ittihad Club continues its preparations for the upcoming match against Al-Ettifaq, scheduled for next Friday, as part of the 16th round of the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Ittihad occupies sixth place in the Roshn League standings with 27 points and is aiming to improve its position and return to strong competition in the upcoming rounds.
