A Draw That Feels Like a Loss.. Al-Ittihad Stumbles Against Damac and Wastes a Win Within Reach

Al-Ittihad team fell into a draw trap against Damac with a score of one goal each, during the match held on Tuesday evening at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, as part of the fifteenth round of the Roshn Saudi League.

Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição started the match with a lineup that included Rajkovic, Al-Shanqeeti, Danilo Pereira, Cadu, Sharahili, Fabinho, Kanté, Fernandes, Diaby, Bergwijn, and Benzema.

Al-Ittihad started the match with early offensive pressure, as Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti nearly opened the scoring in the fourth minute following a backheel pass from Karim Benzema, but the goal was disallowed after a video review.

Damac succeeded in scoring the opening goal in the 37th minute, after Abdullah Al-Qahtani took advantage of a precise pass from Riyadh Sharahili behind the Al-Ittihad defense, successfully shooting the ball into the net.

Just before the end of the first half, Al-Ittihad brought the match back to square one, as Moussa Diaby's cross was converted by Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti into the equalizing goal in the 45th minute.

At the start of the second half, Conceição made a substitution, taking off Karim Benzema and bringing in Saleh Al-Shehri. Al-Ittihad continued their attacking efforts but were unable to score the second goal.

The added time witnessed intense moments, as Fabinho received his second yellow card followed by a red, causing him to miss the upcoming match against Al-Ettifaq. Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad raised their tally to 27 points, placing sixth, while Damak remained fourteenth with ten points.
