Jesus Freezes Pinto's Transfer to Genoa for This Reason
Tuesday 13-01-2026
Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, head of Al-Nassr Club, has halted the transfer of Brazilian goalkeeper Bento Matheus to the Italian club Genoa during the ongoing winter transfer window.

The Saudi sports newspaper revealed that Jesus decided to temporarily suspend the deal until the final decision regarding the goalkeeper is made or an agreement is reached to sign a suitable replacement in the upcoming period.

This decision came after Nawaf Al-Aqidi was sent off in the match against Al-Hilal, during the fifteenth round of the Roshn Saudi League, which ended with Al-Nassr losing three goals to one.

Pinto Matos was close to joining Genoa on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy, amid Jesus's previous inclination to approve his departure.

The Al-Nassr coach sought to release the Brazilian goalkeeper in order to make room for signing a foreign defensive midfielder to strengthen the team during the current winter transfer window.

Al-Nassr Club is preparing to face Al-Shabab next Saturday, as part of the 16th round of the Saudi Professional League.

Al-Nassr occupies second place in the Roshn League standings with 31 points, following two consecutive losses against Al-Qadsiah and then Al-Hilal, increasing the pressure on the coaching staff ahead of the upcoming phase.
