Alonso Costs Real Madrid 17 Million Euros!
Tuesday 13-01-2026
The Spanish newspaper 'ElDesmarque' revealed details of Real Madrid's financial expenditure under former Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed from managing the team yesterday following the loss in the Spanish Super Cup.

The newspaper explained that the total amount the club spent reached 17 million euros, despite the fact that Alonso will not receive his salary for the remaining two years of his contract, which extends until 2028.

Alonso's annual salary is about 7 million euros, which will be paid in full, in addition to 10 million euros that the royal club had already paid to Bayer Leverkusen as part of his transfer deal.

The report pointed out that the contract contains a clause stating that Alonso will receive his first annual salary if he is dismissed during his first season, which explains why Real Madrid will only pay him his first year's salary despite the official length of the contract.
