Enrique Explains Elimination from the French Cup
Following Paris Saint-Germain's elimination from the Round of 32 of the French Cup after a 1-0 loss to Paris FC, the Parisian team's head coach Luis Enrique commented on the match and the reasons for the defeat.
The coach said: "It's very easy to describe this match. It was a complete performance from our side. We created many chances, did our job well, and controlled the game. There is no problem with the performance, but football is a game that depends on scoring goals. They scored, and we did not. I am very happy with what I saw and the way the team played. The result is unfair in my opinion, but it must be accepted. I wish Paris FC all the best for the rest of the tournament."
He added: "Is the loss a warning sign of losing the first title this season? If you only look at the result, maybe yes. But based on what I saw throughout the match, we were clearly the better side. You have to know how to lose. For me, this is a very strange result."
He emphasized: "There are always positive aspects. We should look at things this way. This tournament is not our main goal, but it is a competition we love. And if we have to lose matches, I prefer it to be this way."
He added, "What I saw is exactly what I want from my players, both individually and as a team."
He added: "It's difficult to do better than what we did today. We controlled the match, but you have to score goals—that's football. When you look only at the result, it's clear: you have to score. As for the performance, it was at a very high level."
He concluded: "Could this loss increase the intensity of the competition with Paris Club in the future? Not necessarily."
