Sofiane Boufal Approaches Joining Wydad
Monday 12-01-2026
Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal is close to joining the list of Moroccan players returning from Europe to the national league this season, a notable move that reflects a clear shift in the choices of several stars in recent times.

Wydad Club is steadily moving forward to sign Boufal as part of its project aimed at strengthening its squad with experienced players who combine international expertise and technical skill. The club has previously signed prominent names such as Nordin Amrabat and Hakim Ziyech, in addition to reinforcing the team with young talents like Naïm Biar and Ayman El Wafi.

Wydad aims to recruit Boufal to join the Benjelloun Complex, in a deal that could reunite him with his former teammate Hakim Ziyech, but this time wearing the red team's jersey, in a new experience within the Moroccan league.

According to the available information, Wydad's offer exceeded the proposals submitted by other clubs. The Royal Army team was among the clubs that showed serious interest in signing the player, similar to what happened previously with Younes Abdelhamid. However, the financial and technical offer presented by Wydad made them the closest to securing the deal in their favor.

The next few days remain crucial in determining Sofiane Boufal's final destination, as we await the official announcement regarding his future.
