Emergency Refereeing Change Before Spanish Super Cup Clásico Final
Sunday 11-01-2026
The Spanish Football Federation made a sudden change to the refereeing team for the El Clásico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, in the Spanish Super Cup final scheduled to take place on Sunday evening in the city of Jeddah.

This change came after it was confirmed that referee Adrián Cordero Vega, who had been appointed as the fourth official for the match, was absent due to a physical injury that prevented him from participating, leading to his removal from the list less than 24 hours before the final kicked off.

In light of this urgent situation, the referees' technical committee acted swiftly and decided to appoint referee Adrian Quintero Gonzalez in his place, assigning him the role of fourth official in a match characterized by great sensitivity and extensive media attention.

The match will be officiated by referee José Luis Munuera Montero, with the rest of the officiating team remaining unchanged. Iñigo Prieto and Antonio Martínez will serve as assistant referees on the sidelines, while Daniel Trujillo will be the video assistant referee (VAR), assisted by Davy Galvez.
