Spanish goalkeeper Juan Garcia plays his first Clasico match in his career wearing the Barcelona shirt, when he faces Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, in a special duel against Belgian Thibaut Courtois, one of the most prominent goalkeepers in European football in recent years.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the confrontation between Garcia and Courtois could be decisive in determining the Super Cup champion, especially given the remarkable statistics the Catalan goalkeeper has shown during the first months of the season.

The newspaper pointed out that 33-year-old Courtois is one of the most influential goalkeepers in Real Madrid's successes, especially in the Champions League. Barcelona is the team against which he has conceded the highest number of goals in his career, with 54 goals in 29 matches, while managing to keep a clean sheet in 6 of those encounters.

On the other hand, 24-year-old Juan Garcia enters the match as the goalkeeper with the highest save percentage in the top five leagues at 83%, in addition to leading the clean sheet list with 54%, surpassing Courtois, who has a save rate of 76% and a clean sheet rate of 42%, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish newspaper also highlighted that Garcia previously faced Real Madrid twice last season wearing Espanyol’s shirt in the league, where he delivered impressive performances, especially in the match at Cornellà stadium, which his team won 1-0, during which he made seven crucial saves.

Juan Garcia will be the fourth goalkeeper to defend Barcelona’s goal in the last seven matches against Real Madrid, in a game where he aims to win his first professional title after quickly establishing himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in Europe, according to the evaluation of Mundo Deportivo.
