Benzema Hat-trick Leads Al-Ittihad to Rout of Al-Kholood
French striker Karim Benzema led Al-Ittihad to a convincing 4-0 victory over Al-Kholood in the match held on Friday evening as part of the Saudi Roshn League.
The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah hosted the match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Kholood, as part of the 14th round of the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Ittihad entered the match with a lineup that included Rajkovic, Hassan Kadash, Ahmed Sharahili, Danilo Pereira, Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti, Fabinho, Kante, Bergwin, Moussa Diaby, Roger Fernandez, and Karim Benzema.
Al-Khulood suffered an early setback when their defender William Ekong was sent off in the eighth minute after fouling Karim Benzema during a dangerous Al-Ittihad attack early in the first half.
Benzema opened the scoring for Al-Ittihad with a penalty in the 13th minute, before adding the second goal in the 28th minute following a precise cross from Roger Fernández.
The French star continued his brilliance by scoring the third goal in the 35th minute, following a successful follow-up to a cross delivered by Moussa Diaby, completing his hat-trick.
Benzema tried to increase his goal tally in the second half, while substitute Saleh Al-Shehri added Al-Ittihad's fourth goal in the 84th minute following a pass from Ahmed Al-Ghamdi.
With this victory, Al-Ittihad increased their total to 26 points, securing fifth place in the Saudi League standings, while Al-Kholood remained at 12 points in twelfth place.
