Postponement of the Reopening of the North Stand at Spotify Camp Nou Stadium
Saturday 10-01-2026
The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo revealed that the reopening of the north stand at Camp Nou stadium may be delayed until mid or late February, after the Barcelona municipality requested the club to submit additional documents regarding the organization of the external area surrounding the stand, near Avinguda Joan 23 street.

The club had submitted the documents for obtaining the initial usage permit for phase 1C before the end of 2025, which increases the seating capacity from 45,401 to 62,000 spectators, but it is currently difficult to guarantee the readiness of the first and second tiers for Barcelona’s matches against Oviedo and Copenhagen at the end of January.

The newspaper confirms that the necessary procedures and inspections by technicians, fire brigades, and relevant authorities will take time, increasing the likelihood that the work will not be completed before the cup matches and the Champions League competitions scheduled for early February.

It is expected that the approval for reopening the north stand will be ready for Barcelona’s match against Levante on February 22, or for the possible Champions League playoff matches.

According to the newspaper, the north stand is expected to be ready for Barcelona’s match against Villarreal at the end of February or early March, unless any unexpected delays occur.
