Al-Zawraa Stumbles Against Naft Maysan in the Stars League

Al-Zawraa stumbled with a positive 2-2 draw against their host Naft Maysan, in the match that brought them together at the Maysan Olympic Stadium as part of the eleventh round of the Iraqi Stars League.

The first half witnessed an open and exciting match, as both teams exchanged attacks from the early minutes, and Al-Zawraa managed to open the scoring early in the fifth minute through Kazem Raad.

Al-Zawraa continued their pressure after the goal, and Nigerian Ibrahim Tomiwa succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 32nd minute, but the referee decided to cancel the goal due to offside.

In the 40th minute, Naft Maysan was awarded a penalty that sparked wide controversy, after Shakoul turned its validity, Alaa Saad succeeded in converting it into the equalizing goal, ending the first half with a score of one goal each.

With the start of the second half, Al-Zawraa imposed their style again, and Ibrahim Tomiwa managed to score the second goal for the Seagulls in the 52nd minute, bringing his team back into the lead.

However, Naft Maysan did not give up and continued their attempts until they managed to equalize again in the 70th minute through Fiqaar Abd.

With this draw, which is the second in a row for Al-Zawraa, the team raised its tally to 19 points to occupy fifth place in the standings, while Naft Maysan reached seven points to remain in seventeenth place.
