The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that German defender Nico Schlotterbeck has decided not to renew his contract with Borussia Dortmund, prompting the German club to prepare to sell him during the upcoming summer transfer window to avoid losing him for free in 2027.

The newspaper pointed out that Dortmund prefers Schlotterbeck to transfer to a club outside Germany. According to the German newspaper "Bild," Real Madrid is ready to pay 50 million euros to acquire the services of Schlotterbeck, who is considered one of the best defenders on the market.
