Jaissle Decides on Atangana's Replacement Before Al-Akhdoud Test
Thursday 08-01-2026
The German Matthias Jaissle, head coach of Al Ahly's first football team, chose the French player Enzo Mieu to occupy the central midfield position, replacing Valentin Atangana, who is suspended due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Informed sources confirmed that Jaissle has decided to include Enzo in the starting lineup, alongside Ziyad Al-Juhani, for the anticipated match against Al-Akhdoud in the 14th round of the Roshn Saudi League.

The Prince Hadhil bin Abdul Aziz Sports City Stadium in Najran will host the match between Al-Ahli and Al-Akhdoud, scheduled for Saturday evening, in a game where the team aims to continue competing for the top positions.

The sources explained that the final drill, which will take place on Friday at the club's home stadium in Jeddah, will determine the final lineup before heading to Najran for the match.

The coaching staff is considering Eid Al-Muwallad to play the role of the central midfielder, given the current absences, while Brazilian Roger Ibañez returns to the starting lineup after serving his suspension.

Ibanez missed the previous match against Al-Nassr due to the red card he received in the twelfth round match against Al-Fayha.

Al Ahly will be without the services of the trio Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, and Franck Kessié, as they are currently occupied with participating in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament taking place in Morocco.

Al-Ahli occupies fourth place in the Roshn Saudi League standings with 25 points, trailing the leader Al-Hilal by seven points.
