Spanish club Barcelona has chosen to postpone the official announcement of their signing of Portuguese player João Cancelo from Saudi club Al Hilal, despite reaching a final agreement between all parties in recent days.

Spanish reports revealed that the decision to postpone was made out of Barcelona management's desire to avoid distracting the players while the team was in Saudi Arabia to participate in the Spanish Super Cup.

The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that the agreement between Barcelona and Al Hilal for Cancelo has indeed been reached, but the Catalan club preferred to postpone the official announcement until the current competitions conclude.

The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona's management refuses to create any media uproar that could negatively affect the atmosphere in the locker room, especially as they strive to win the season's first titles.

German coach Hans Flick asked the club officials to postpone all side matters, especially the Cancelo deal, in order to fully focus on the semifinal match against Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona is expected to announce the signing of Cancelo after their run in the Spanish Super Cup ends, either following the final match or immediately upon elimination from the tournament in case of a loss.
