Decisive Move by Al Hilal to Avoid Losing Neves for Free
Thursday 08-01-2026
Al Hilal club officials are evaluating the future of Portuguese player Ruben Neves amid stalled contract renewal negotiations, as European interest, led by Manchester United, intensifies at this time.

Al Hilal offered Neves an extension of his contract, which expires in the summer of this year, but the player has not yet given his approval, preferring to consider the idea of returning to European football.

The name of the Portuguese midfielder is linked to several major clubs, most notably Manchester United, Juventus, and Real Madrid, which adds complexity to Al-Hilal's situation regarding his future.

The British newspaper "Express" confirmed that Ruben Neves refused to renew his contract with Al Hilal, while he received a serious offer from Manchester United to sign him during the winter transfer window.

The newspaper pointed out that Al-Hilal's management is considering selling Neves in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season, in case he continues to refuse to renew his contract.

Manchester United plans to make strong signings this winter, while also searching for a new coach following the dismissal of Portuguese manager Rúben Amorim.

The report concluded by affirming that Neves, 28 years old and a former Wolverhampton player, possesses high technical skills, with expectations that the deal will be finalized for around £20 million.
