Napoli Requests to Loan Thiago Almada from Atlético Madrid
Wednesday 07-01-2026
Italian club Napoli has officially moved to sign Argentine Thiago Almada from Atlético Madrid during the winter transfer window, in a step aimed at strengthening the team's attacking power in the second half of the season.

According to the website "Fichajes," Napoli has requested to loan the player for six months, with an option to buy for 25 million euros, an amount slightly higher than what Atlético Madrid paid to sign him from Botafogo.

This move comes amid coach Diego Simeone's dissatisfaction with Almada's performance since his arrival, as he has failed to establish himself as a regular starter and has played a limited role with the Madrid team.

On his part, Antonio Conte, Napoli's coach, sees Almada as an important addition to the attacking midfield, as part of the club's efforts to retain the Serie A title and enhance creative options.

Atlético Madrid considers that the player's departure could help ease the burden and open the way for other reinforcements, while Almada may find at Napoli a greater opportunity for playing time and continuity.
