Lewandowski Settles the Debate About His Transfer to Al Hilal
Wednesday 07-01-2026
Talks about a potential swap deal between Al Hilal and Barcelona, involving João Cancelo's transfer in exchange for Robert Lewandowski's loan during the current winter transfer window, have been shut down early.

Media reports circulated linking Cancelo's potential move to Barcelona with Al Hilal's interest in signing Lewandowski, raising widespread questions about the possibility of including the Polish striker in the deal.

Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports, confirmed on his X account that Lewandowski is not considering leaving Barcelona at all during this January.

Pleitner emphasized that Barcelona has no intention of involving Lewandowski in the loan deal for João Cancelo, who is close to joining the Catalan team completely separately.

The same source indicated that Lewandowski's future remains uncertain, especially with his contract nearing its end at the conclusion of the current season, clarifying that the possibility of his retirement this summer is not a cause for concern within the club.

On the other hand, Al Hilal's management is looking to let go of Cancelo this winter, after he fell out of the plans of Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, amid interest from Barcelona and Inter Milan in securing his services.
