Appointment of Referees for the Spanish Super Cup Matches
Wednesday 07-01-2026
The Technical Refereeing Committee of the Spanish Football Federation has announced the names of the referees assigned to officiate the Spanish Super Cup matches, starting with the semi-final between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.

The match will be led by referee Díaz de Mera, assisted by Jorge Figueroa Vázquez on video technology. This will be the first time Díaz de Mera officiates a Barcelona match this season, and the third for Athletic Bilbao, for whom he has previously officiated two matches.

As for the derby match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, it will be led by the new international referee since January 1, Mateo Busquets Ferrer, who previously officiated last season’s match at the Metropolitano Stadium that ended in a 1-1 draw and experienced a temporary suspension due to objects being thrown towards Courtois’s goal. Javier Iglesias will be in charge of video technology.

The final match will be officiated by referee Sánchez Martínez, a candidate to represent Spain in the upcoming summer World Cup, assisted by Daniel Trujillo Suárez in video technology.

These appointments come as part of the official preparations for the matches scheduled in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the current edition of the Spanish Super Cup, to ensure the matches are managed efficiently and fairly.
