Genoa and Grêmio Compete for Al-Nassr Player in Winter Transfer Window
Thursday 08-01-2026
Italian club Genoa and Brazilian club Grêmio are seeking to acquire the services of Brazilian goalkeeper Pinto, who plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, during the current winter transfer window, as the player is eager to experience a new challenge in Europe and South America.

Pinto has dropped in the goalkeeper rankings at Al-Nassr this season, becoming the second-choice keeper behind Nawaf Al-Aqidi, which has increased the likelihood of his departure during this January transfer window, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who specializes in transfer news.

The source reported that both clubs are seeking to loan Pinto with an option to buy, in a move aimed at strengthening their squads before the end of the current winter transfer window, while closely monitoring the player's progress.

Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, the manager of Al-Nassr, has given his preliminary approval for the goalkeeper's departure in order to open a slot for another foreign player, without affecting the team's balance in the Saudi Professional League.

Pinto joined Al-Nassr in the summer of 2024, coming from Athletico Paranaense on a contract lasting until June 2028. He played 59 matches with the team across all competitions, conceding 61 goals and keeping a clean sheet in 21 games.

Pinto's departure is seen as an opportunity for Al-Nassr to restructure the goalkeeper position, allowing the player to gain experience in a new environment, while the duo of Genoa and Grêmio remain in a fierce competition to sign him this winter.
